Charles Rossignol

Charles Rossignol
Charles is a Cat 2 Road and Track cyclist with tons of racing experience and a huge sprint but some trouble cracking the results page in the faster P/1/2 races.

Chaz is actually the reason I got into coaching. After starting to work with power and having tons of questions, I started working with him extensively on his program and training/racing with power.

Over the past 6 months we have been working very specifically on increasing his horsepower and eliciting gains in his FTP to get him to the end of tough races near the front. Given his very time constricted and varying schedule, we have focused on training efficiency and getting the most bang for the buck.

On about 10hrs a week we have increased his Threshold Power nearly 5% and have seen a previously routine DNF'er near the top of the board in 3-4hr+ road races and 28mph crits. It's just a matter of time until Chaz is at the front of the race unleashing his 1500w sprint for the podium spots.

For TT comparison, in 2007 he finished the 10mi Tundra TT in 23:50. This year he finished over a minute faster in 22:44 after missing his start time and taking a running start (next coaching topic; not missing start times).

Dustin Mealor

Dustin Mealor
Dustin Mealor came on with me in November of 2007 as a Cat 4 cyclist with some potential and a few years of racing under his belt. After a stagnant season, Dustin was looking for some guidance and has been working with me ever since on both his road racing and time trialing.

Dustin started training and racing with power at the same time we started his coaching and has since increased his threshold power 25 watts in the past 5 months.

In addition to coaching, I have worked extensively with Dustin on Nutrition for weight loss and race performance and he has since lost nearly 10 pounds and increased his power to weight ratio at threshold by ~.4 w/kg.

Since starting the 2008 season Dustin has entered 6 races, podiumed twice and has 4 top 5 finishes. He has accumulated enough points to upgrade from Cat 4 to Cat 3 in just over a month of racing.

Jeff Licciardello

Jeff is a Category 4 racer with a penchant for time trialing and a passion for the road. Like many racers, Jeff found it tough to continue improving on limited time, family commitments, and the strains of a career.

Jeff and I have been focusing on his time trialing through a new position and FTP based training over the off season as well as optimizing his training through a micro periodization schedule.

Unlike Charles and Dustin, Jeff doesn't have access to a power meter and we have been working exlusively with heart rate and perceived exertion to guide his efforts.
Also, on the other end of the spectrum, Jeff races for fun with no visions of grandeur, just getting faster to be faster!

In comparison to his 2007 Tundra TT time of 24:31, he clocked a 23:13 this year. Jeff improved by over a minute and it just goes to show that cycling/coaching/training on a tight budget with limited time commitment can elicit huge results!

Fast on 2, or 4 wheels

Karl Langenbach

Karl is a weekend warrior with a desire to reach his highest potential without foregoing his responsibilities as a father, husband, and provider.

Given his hectic schedule and outlook on cycling as more of a passion than a lifestyle, Karl enlisted me on a consultation basis. Roughly once a week we get together to examine his training routine and talk about training, physiology, and nutrition.

Karl has developed a keen interest in the dynamics of training and physiology and is well read on the topic. Unfortunately, there is so much out there that it is hard for anyone to make sense of it all. We have spent a good deal of time determining his different zones based on heart rate and assigning parameters to base his intervals around.

As opposed to racing on the weekends, we're aiming to get Karl to the front on the weekend single file hammerfest rides and light it up with the best of 'em. Not to mention a trip to the Alps or Pyrennes in the future.
